tbh, no sappy. this was lowkey a lot of hard work (pause) [resume] like a years worth of toiling and mostly procrastination. if you read the credits, I did damn near all of this myself (except for making the beats. shoutout youtube)

On the topic of shoutouts, I’ve got a few special ones: shoutout Prance, Kaif, and Malik for giving me an NYC couch/makeshift recording studio to actually work on this project. everything you’re hearing was recorded under a not-so-thick blanket or between the hours when someone wasn’t using their room.

Biological Imperatives

So….

This is the wierdest feeling ever. I fell out of practice with digitally introducing myself and the old bones are rusty. I think my mental muscles atrophied after years of just posting into the ether and not taking the time to really say who/what I am. BUUUUUUUT let’s dive in.

I’m Reggie. I’m ToBy. I’m both.

I’m in my 30’s (made a deal with the skin care devil), and I’ve been making music my whole life. It’s my calling. I’ve also been making jokes my whole life. It’s my curse.

I think instead of hashing through my entire lore I’ll just piece meal the information out across however many posts I make on this blog. Yeah, that’ll be fun.

Speaking of the blog. I’m gonna leverage expectations here: I just got back from a trip to San Diego with the bocxtop gang (you know us, you love us). And on the drive back I had a 2 hour conversation about how far removed I’ve been from art for art’s sake. Been deep in my cynical commerce bag (the bag is largely empty mind you, there is no money in music).

But regardless, I haven’t really been making anything for me and myself, I always stressed the particulars and it made me sad. and bad low key. sad bad sad bad. it sounds funny if you say it kinda fast.

This blog is my return to self. It’s also my accountability device. I’ll be throwing pictures, vids, scripts, demos, recaps, thoughts, and whatever else feels right on here.

But what I WON’T be doing is organizing it. Or curating it, really. Think of this as like my hard drive/diary, that you can click through.
